Individuals who wish to benefit from car rental services agree to comply with the following terms and conditions:

For Turkish Citizens with Foreign Driver’s Licenses

Turkish citizens driving in Turkey with foreign driver’s licenses must adhere to the following rules:

Usage Duration

• Vehicles can be driven for up to 6 months from the date of entry into Turkey with a foreign driver’s license.

Translation Requirement

• Turkish citizens with foreign driver’s licenses who stay in Turkey for more than 6 months must carry a notarized or consulate-approved Turkish translation of their licenses while driving.

License Conversion

• After 6 months, foreign driver’s licenses must be converted to Turkish driver’s licenses to continue driving.

For Foreign Citizens

Foreign citizens renting and driving vehicles in Turkey are subject to the following conditions:

Usage Duration

Driver’s License Conversion Process

The following rules apply to the conversion of foreign driver’s licenses to Turkish licenses:

Application Point

• Applications can be made at any traffic registration office.

Required Documents

• The necessary documents and information are determined by the General Directorate of Security.

Conditions

• Except for the education and exam requirements specified in Article 41 of Law No. 2918, age, education, and health conditions apply equally to Turkish citizens.
• A written declaration may suffice for foreigners with diplomatic immunity.

Validation Check

• If deemed necessary, the authenticity of the driver’s license may be verified through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the relevant foreign consulates.

Temporary Licenses

• Temporary foreign driver’s licenses cannot be converted.

Recognition and Conversion

• Driver’s licenses issued by countries that are parties to the Convention on Road Traffic will be converted to their equivalent Turkish driver’s licenses.
• Additional exams or training may be required for certain vehicle classes.

Obtaining a Different Class of License

• Individuals wishing to obtain a different class of driver’s license in Turkey must first convert their existing foreign license to a Turkish license.

Legal Penalties

Individuals who fail to comply with the stated conditions will be subject to the provisions of Article 39 of Law No. 2918.
